On this day we sailed into the bayof Naxos and it truly was morning glory! The bay was calm and as the sun rose it lit the little Sicilian seaside resort town up beautifully!The sky was clear which offered an unsurpassed view of Europe’s tallest volcano Mt. Dana and I received word yesterday of the passing of one of our dearest cruising friends. Dr. Lloyd Tinkle passed away two days short of his 102nd birthday. Lloyd and his wife had cruised for many years starting out with Royal Viking Sun in the 1990’s. This voyage was the 3rd time we sailed into San Juan, Puerto Rico just after noon. Each time I have been doing some sail-in commentary from the bridge as we were sailing past history entering its grand harbor.
